February 19th, 2008 under Infrastructure, Rail

There were quite a few problems across the network today affecting services across the country. A quick round up follows:

  • Bridge struck by road vehicle in North Walsham area (TOC: one)
  • Person hit by train at Southampton Airport Parkway (TOC: CrossCountry, South West Trains)
  • 3 lots of signalling problems between Portsmouth Harbour and Fratton (TOC: First Great Western, South West Trains, Southern)
  • Fatality in Wandsworth Town area (TOC: South West Trains)
  • Overhead wire problems between Milton Keynes and Watford Junction (TOC: London Midland, Virgin Trains)
  • Security alert at Stratford (TOC: London Overground, one)
  • Signalling problems between Boston and Skegness (TOC: East Midlands Trains)
  • Overruning engineering work at St. Helens Central (TOC: Northern Rail)
  • Signalling problems at Woking (TOC: South West Trains)
  • Signalling problems at Chorley (TOC: First Transpennine Express, Northern Rail)
  • Signalling problems in Hanwell area between London Paddington and Hayes & Harlington (TOC: CrossCountry, First Great Western, Heathrow Connect, Heathrow Express)
  • Signalling problems between Moorgate and Finsbury Park (TOC: First Capital Connect)
  • Operating incident in Peterborough area (TOC: East Midlands Trains, First Capital Connect, Hull Trains, National Express East Coast, one)
  • Overruning engineering work at Market Harborough (TOC: East Midlands Trains)
  • Broken down train between Hitchin and Arlesey (TOC: First Capital Connect, First ScotRail, Hull Trains, National Express East Coast)

Quite a large number of signalling issues blighted the network in places today, especially the incident affecting the commuter route out of London Paddington. The line between Portsmouth Harbour and Fratton did not have much luck today at all with three incidents during the day involving signalling issues.

Hopefully tomorrow will be better!
